SAFE BOATING FOR KIDS

 
This course is designed to teach children from the age of 10 to 15 years, how to deal with Small Vessel Emergencies and covers a full range of Basic Boating information.
OPTIONS
Classroom course
8 hours. Includes pool

IN-CLASS COURSE CONTENTS

  • Minimum safety equipment required on board your boat.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Buoy System.
  • How to share the Waterways.
  • How to react to a “MAN OVERBOARD” situation.
  • How to recover a man overboard.
  • What to do when IN the water unexpectedly.
  • Pool session.

POOL SESSION

  • Putting on a PFD (personal flotation device) properly in the water.
  • Testing your PFD
  • How to handle a Buoyant Heave Line.
  • Learn how a Liferaft works.

At the end of this course they may write the Pleasure Craft Operator test. Participants have knowledge beyond Transport Canada Requirements.
NOTE: A waiver, signed by Parent or Guardian is required for pool session.
